Maybe, that is what started all this? I don't know as I am an average computer person.Īfter the above, I went into the printer's Menu and in Maintenance, I think selected "reset printer". The printers list showed my Dell c1760nw with an option to "add app". Somehow, I successfully added the printer. Being an amateur, I had no idea what to put into one of the options like TCP/IP, Bluetooth, network, etc options. But, I recall Win10 having difficulty finding it. Knowing I had successfully deleted the printer, and I then went back to "add printer". So as to mimick the steps I took when it was first installed several years ago. I powered off the printer, then powered it back on. Twice, some how, to get Win10 to not list any hint of it existing. I then clicked on "remove device" in Win10 Settings.

In Win10 settings, it showed as unavailable. Unfortunately, I do not remember the sequence of events, but I remember powering off the printer. So monkeying, I call it, with it wouldn't be any worse. I had read a lot of many user's complaints. When all else fails, the last thing to do was to monkey around with Windows 10 and the Printer's Menu panel. My firmware version has a 2018 version as its latest.
#Dell c1765 bypass color printing driver
I was going to re-install the printer's first driver version and firmware version, but I did not get around to it. If there was a darkness setting, that would have helped. There's really not much to do in the Dell printer settings window. I tried changing settings in Windows and in the printer's menu panel. I use use 20-24 pound, 98 or better whiteness, laser printing paper and NEVER copy or inkjet paper. I did not know if it was a recent 2018 firmware update, or the reputable 3rd party toner, or some other hardware problem causing it. As someone said, "don't send me or suggest the manual".

My c1760nw started doing the same thing last week.
